DO SOMETHING! If not YOU, then WHO?

National Bullying Prevention and Awareness Month

It takes YOU to make things change.

Take a stand, don't stand by, STAND UP
(for yourself and others : D)

Dylan’s words are poetry! His words represent our history, our country and the social problems of the world. He questions our actions and beliefs. He stands for change! His lyrics talk about treating someone right, being their friend, not tearing them down or hurting them.

Show kindness and respect. Treat everyone like a friend.
All I Really Want to Do ( Is baby, be friends with you)

Bob Dylan – All I Really Want To Do Lyrics

I ain't lookin' to compete with you,
Beat or cheat or mistreat you,
Simplify you, classify you,
Deny, defy or crucify you.
All I really want to do
Is, baby, be friends with you.

No, and I ain't lookin' to fight with you,
Frighten you or uptighten you,
Drag you down or drain you down,
Chain you down or bring you down.
All I really want to do
Is, baby, be friends with you...

Bob Dylan : Blowing in the Wind

His lyrics tell a story about our country, our history, slavery, freedom...

(video 1:04)
"Yes, and how many years can some people exist
Before they're allowed to be free?

Yes, and how many times can a man turn his head
And pretend that he just doesn't see?"

To make a change, you have to BE THE CHANGE!

Be the Change! Unite against Bullying

Hot Topic Discussion Rules

We will discuss the topic of bullying through books and characters such as  "Wonder" and "Schooled."
In “Wonder” Auggie, because of his facial disfigurement, had to overcome rejection,
ridicule, rudeness, and people’s reaction when they saw him.

Middle school kids can be mean, cruel, and hateful!  WORDS HURT! Words can either tear someone down or build someone up. We all struggle with "stuff" in our lives, whether it is not liking the way we look, our weight, family problems, lack of money, not being popular etc.

Bullying happens when someone intentionally, repeatedly tries to hurt someone physically or mentally. It goes beyond being rude, or being mean.

News article: "No More Bullies!" Really? Does a law against bullying make the bullying stop? Does it change what happens in our school?
